  21. DESCRIPTION

  23. This update set transforms the "AExplorer" v. 1.x, 2.x and 3.x Amiga
  24. program file to the corresponding version 3.02 file. This update only
  25. upgrades the server side of the software, i.e. the Amiga side.
  26.  
  27. Some of the very first Amiga Forever 2.0 units shipped had a floppy
  28. disk which was duplicated before the CD-ROM went into production. On
  29. these disks, the "AExplorer" program file is functionally identical
  30. with the final file on CD, but has a few differences in the file
  31. itself. If this upgrade procedure displays a message indicating that
  32. the Amiga Explorer 2.0 program file cannot be upgraded, then please
  33. install and upgrade the "AExplorer" file from the CD-ROM ("AF_Disk"
  34. directory), rather than the one on the floppy disk.

  36. This version of the Amiga side (server) software is compatible with
  37. all clients v. 1.0 to 3.x, and is designed to offer current levels of
  38. functionality to future clients as well.

  40. This version, like all others, works in either serial (null-modem) or
  41. TCP/IP modes. TCP/IP functionality requires a library fully compatibile
  42. with the original (AmiTCP/IP) "bsdsocket.library", such as is provided
  43. by AmiTCP/IP itself, Miami, or the TCP/IP stack which is part of UAE.

  48. Version 1.0 was the first version released.
  49.  
  50. Version 1.1 introduced increased performance, and solved a bug whereas
  51. in certain configurations, after a timeout, the Amiga side of the
  52. software could crash. It also fixed a potential problem with certain
  53. serial port settings, where the Amiga side could send more data than
  54. the client could handle. Version 1.1 introduced a new option to create
  55. a log file, useful to track and report problems.

  57. Version 2.0 provided additional functionality, used by version 2.0 and
  58. higher of Windows clients.
  59.  
  60. Version 2.02 solved a possible timeout problem when deleting and
  61. moving very large Amiga files, and introduced support for features
  62. to be used by future versions of Amiga Explorer clients.

  64. Version 3.0 offered extended client functionality, and in particular
  65. support for hardfiles (HDF) and double-click on Amiga data files. The
  66. server (Amiga) side remained unchanged from version 2.02.

  68. Version 3.01 solved a software failure problem when setting file dates
  69. on Amiga OS 1.2 and 1.3 systems. It also corrected the fact that floppy
  70. disks could not be formatted while validating.

  72. Version 3.02 solves a case in which a blank or "bad" disk was not
  73. available for formatting.
